The chemistry between them is so natural and of such gravity that very soon their partnership takes over Judd's passionate will to save her husband. The story: Federal agents stop Claire and Tom, a happy couple doing their Christmas shopping, and arrest Tom, accused of mass murder in El Salvador in 1998. Tom (who had changed his name and is actually Ron) is left alone with only his wife to believe him. Herself an attorney, she teams up with a young lawyer from the army and a very old hand in military cases called Crimes (Freeman). Believing that Tom is set up by the army and higher rank officers who are hiding behind Tom/Ron, they find out that to make things un-retraceable they of the 7 original witnesses two died in combat and three are killed in accidents. This raises their suspicion. While Grimes travels to Mexico to talk to the wife of one of the murdered witnesses in an unexpected twist of events the army decides for reasons related to National Security to drop the case and pronounces Tom free. The happy couple are reunited and every sense of ending is ready to wrap up the film when Grimes calls Claire to tell her that in fact they have been trying to set free a criminal and that her husband is not only the same mass murderer he has also murdered the witnesses too. In a physical scene after this revelation, Tom gets too violent and almost attempts to kill Claire only to find himself shot by one El Salvadorian who had been waiting his time. The film ends with a lively conversation between Grimes and Claire who voice their opinions concerning their business partnership and expectantly more than that.

The Parent Trap (1961)

"The Parent Trap" (1961) is an ideal family film. Much of its appeal and entertainment, of course, is due to the marvelous dual role-play of Hayley Mills. The story is about a twin separated at birth, each living afterwards with one parent. In a summer camp they bump into each other and find out that they are sisters. They decide to swap places and thus bring their divorced parents together. Susie finds little trouble in Sharon's house, but Sharon enters Susie's to find his father ready to marry a young beautiful lady called Vicky, who is said to care only for his father's money. When Mother (Maureen O'Harra) and Susie join the father and Sharon real drama (sweetly comedy) begins. The twin's and mother's plan is to disrupt the marriage. The scenes entertain any relax viewer. Thus, the sometimes slap-stick comedy ends up so nicely that all live happily ever after.
I have not seen its 1998 version. If you have seen both, please tell me how they compare. Meg Ryan (as Katheline Kerry) owns a bookshop called 'The Shop Around the Corner '. It has been there for years, initially run by her mum. She dearly cherishes the legacy of her dead mum. The shop is everything to her. Tom Hanks (as Joe Fox), a superstore tycoon, happens to open a book superstore just a hundred yards away, practically running Katheline out of business. Busy as they are with this business fight, they never miss their night internet surfing. Coincidence brings them together via a night internet chat, both unknown to each other of course. They first begin saying actully 'nothing' but the ordinary 'I did this and that today'. However, they think they have a good understanding of each other. As the business crisis gets more serious, Katheline asks for his advice. In the meantime, they also agree to meet for the first time in a restaurant. Joe discovers that his dream woman is but the same shopgirl Katheline. Surprised, he does not introduce himself to Katheline, instead he goes to her as Joe Fox. So it turns out to be another business quarrel, while Katheline does not know Joe Fox is the same internet man. Finally Katheline is forced to close down her shop; afterwards, however, she is approached time and again by a friendly Joe Fox. They feel quite attracted to each other. She keeps in touch with her internet friend via email. They agree to meet again. Katheline welcomes the meeting but it is also obvious that she really likes Joe Fox. (Although this seems to be another love triangle and I hate the idea so much, because there are actually only two people in the frame I try to ignore it!) The ecstatic moment when Katheline finds out that her Joe Fox and her internet dream lover are one is beyond expression. I enjoyed the film so much.
Two more things: a. Katheline, though very sweet and charming, seems to be older than Joe and does not exactly fit her internet ID as 'shopgirl'; b. in one of her emails Katheline writes: I am so used to our saying nothing in our emails. Those nothings are dearer than the so-called 'somethings'. (It is not an exact quote)

I Hate Love Triangles.

I must keep it short this time. I typed a full page and it just did not go through. Anyway, yesterday I watched Reap the Wild Wind cast by John Wayne, Paulette Goddard and Ray Milland and directed by Cecil B. DeMille (colour, 1942). To beging with, I hate such films which involve a love triangle and containing romatic rivalry. But there was the irresistable John Wayne! Well Wayne is the captain of a ship to rescue the valuables of wrcked ship. But he gets almost drowned, only to be save by Goddard, who both fall in love. The twist is that Milland, a lawyer, also happens to love Goddard and his love is not left unanswered either! (Sorry, but I just hate love-triangles to bits.) Then both venture to dive deep down the ocean to see if Goddard's female cousin is among the wreckage of the ship. Both are attacked by a giant octupus. Wayne saves Milland's life by his own life. Goddard's cousin is found dead all right and his lover is also killed by bad people on board to replicate a Romeo-Juliet subplot. But Goddard and Milland live happily ever after!

Why Here?

Well, I so much like to write in English, and I love to write in Farsi.
